The city’s Department of Parks & Recreation held its annual City Council Turkey Trot last Sunday. More than 700 runners turned out for the event, which included two races — a one-mile race for ages 17 and under and a 10K for adults. Both races began and finished on Riverside Boulevard and the boardwalk. Participants were also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to be donated for those in need.

Chris Koegal, 32, of Malverne, was the race’s first overall finisher with a time of 35 minutes, 39 seconds. Melissa Moschetto, 34, was the race’s top overall female finisher with a time of 38 minutes, 52 seconds as well as the first female finisher from Long Beach. Andrew Smith, 43, was the first male finisher from Long Beach with a time of 37 minutes, 45 seconds.

Michael Rosner, 17, of Long Beach was the first overall finisher of the one-mile race with a time of 5 minutes, 45 seconds. That race was divided into categories for children ages 1 through 10, 11 through 14 and 15 through 17.

Samantha Addeo, 11, and Audrey Cozine, 13, both of Long Beach, were the top two female finishers in the one-mile race with times of 6 minutes, 33 seconds and 6 minutes, 43 seconds, respectively. Nico Kahganis, 9, won the 10-and-under division with a time of 7 minutes, 13 seconds.
