JFI PRE-THANKSGIVING EVENT

Posted

On Sunday November 23rd we had a great time designing packages for the soldiers as well as for hospitalized children at The Cohen Children's Medical Center at LIJ. Participants enjoyed filling the smiley face, moon or flowered shaped plastic bottles with sand. While the idea was for the children at the JFI program to take home these crafts, many instead chose to include them in either the care packages for the soldiers or gift bags for the hospitalized children. This was yet another example of the feeling of "giving to others" and selflessness that permeated the room.

Having a firetruck from the Plainview Fire Department as well as a police car from the local precinct was an extra special treat. Children and parents alike were awe struck at how high the fire ladder actually stretched. The kids where able to interact with the officers as well as get a hands on tour of the vehicles and equipment. We had the great honor and privilege to thank them for their service to our community.
