Power outage affects station gates in Hewlett and Woodmere
Far Rockaway line trains not affected
A Long Island Power Authority power outage along the Long Island Rail Road's Far Rockaway branch caused crossing gates to remain down at locations in the Five Towns.
LIPA spokesman Mark Gross confirmed that a transmission line "tripped" at about 1:55 p.m., which caused the outage.
Power was restored at 4 p.m., according to LIRR spokesman Sal Arena, who said the outage didn't affect train service.
But there were traffic delays during the 90 minutes the gates were down at Broadway and West Broadway in Hewlett; Franklin Avenue and West Broadway in Hewlett; Irving Place and Woodmere Boulevard in Woodmere.
