Some really great people

To the Editor:
It’s been a snow-filled, cold and overall crappy winter — but living in Lynbrook, I’ve learned that I’ve been blessed to have great neighbors that I say, apologetically, I barely knew — up until now.
With each new snowstorm, I see Abramites (those of us who live on Abrams Place) of all ages, male and female, assisting me and others in keeping our sidewalk and driveway free of snow. I have seen teenagers like Mike and Paul clearing my snow even as it’s coming down. Then there’s Ray and Gary coming down the street, using their snow blowers on everything in their path. And the unarguably Energizer Bunny of the block, Linda. What a woman! She just helps everyone she can. There are many others as well,

So if you are ever looking to move into Lynbrook, don’t be shocked if the prices for homes on my block are a little higher. It will be worth it because the price includes SRGP — that is, Some Really Great People.

Quitting smoking is a lasting gift

To the Editor:
Annually in the U.S., 392,000 people die from smoking-caused diseases and an additional 50,000 from second-hand smoke exposure. The American Lung Association is dedicated to helping smokers quit, and our proven Freedom From Smoking program can help achieve that goal.
Quitting smoking is the best thing you can do to improve your health and extend your life. In 2001, the FFS Online program was introduced and has since helped thousands with their journey of quitting smoking and improving their lives. The program is available 24 hours a day, allowing flexibility and the option to use the program at your convenience.
Most know smoking is the leading cause of preventable disease and premature death. Yet an estimated 43.8 million people in the United States still smoke. Part of our mission is to prevent a new generation of smokers and help those who smoke quit so they are no longer shortening their lives and putting themselves at increased risk of lung disease.
Give yourself or your loved ones a gift that’s everlasting –– the gift of a healthier, longer life.
