Arnold Epstein, the Long Beach School District athletic director, will also be recognized. Sofield said that he allowed the LBCA to store 100 mattresses at the middle school concession stand, and also worked tirelessly to make sure school sports went on after the storm, even though many uniforms and equipment were lost and fields were out of commission. Long Beach restaurants Tutti Frutti and Gino’s will also be recognized for offering steep discounts to residents after the storm. And the Garden City Boy’s Lacrosse Team will be honored, for its donations to the LBCA after the storm.

“When it mattered most, they were very good neighbors to us,” Sofield said.

The event will run from 7:30 p.m. to midnight at the Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park, and will feature music by JahStix and Ground Swell, as well as a DJ and raffle prizes, including a few trips. Tickets are $125 in advance and $150 at the door.
