Vinnie Biondo, who has worked at the Lawrence Yacht & Country Club for 37 years, helped to saved the life of a golfer on Oct. 6.

Biondo, the club’s golf starter, was alerted to the emergency by the other golfers at the 11th hole where the golfer apparently suffered a heart attack. Finding the man’s body comatose. Applying the cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillator training he had learned, Biondo determined the man had a very rapid pulse.

He applied the defibrillator, pushed the “shock” button and delivered what turned out to be the life-saving jolt of electricity. Following the device’s displayed message, Biondo then performed CPR.

Not to long after that, the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department and Nassau County police arrived. First Assistant Chief Anthony Rivelli and other LCFD members took the man to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway. Officials said the man showed signs of improvement.
