Malverne resident and Sacred Heart Academy alum Elizabeth Salogub recently received the school’s “Women of Heart” award at its annual dinner dance on March 20 at The Garden City Hotel.

The “Women of Heart” award is annually given to alumnae who exemplify qualities of hospitality, excellence, accountability, respect, and truthfulness that come with the title.

Salogub, who graduated from Sacred Heart in 2000, became president of the Alumnae Association in 2008, for which she created the Alumnae Scholarship Fund, a partially need-based program that benefits incoming high school freshmen. She also established the association’s networking committee and maintains the SHA Alumnae Facebook and LinkedIn pages.

Through her work with the association, Salogub has instituted fundraising efforts for the popular Red and Gold competition and organized the inaugural SHA 5K Run/Walk last fall with nearly 500 participants, netting over $15,000 for the school.

After graduating from Sacred Heart, Salogub attended St. John’s University to earn her bachelor’s degree in accounting. She currently works as a director of Americas Operations for AIG insurance company with a career in strategic and tactical planning.

In previous years, Salogub has received the Girl Scout Gold Award and the St. John’s University Vincentian Mission Award.

Salogub and her family — parents Michelle and Mike Salogub and brothers Chris, Tom, Danny and Mikey — are strong supporters of Sacred Heart Academy, its mission, and Catholic education.
