The Long Beach Police Department, along with The Nassau County Police Department and Crime Stoppers, is searching for a man that is accused of assaulting a police officer in Long Beach last week.

Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 23, at 6:25 p.m. at National Boulevard and West Hudson Street. According to police, LBPD detectives were attempting to arrest Long Beach resident Darryl Coad on drug charges.

That's when Coad punched a detective in the face and fled the scene, police said. The detective, police said, suffered a broken jaw.

Coad sometimes goes by the nickname “Froggy” or “Frog,” and though his primary residence is in Long Beach, he has ties to Hempstead and Queens, police said. He is described as 5 feet, 11-inches-tall, 215 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.

Nassau County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000, and is asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of Coad — or anyone with information about the case — to call the Crime Stoppers toll-free hotline at 1 (800) 244-TIPS (8477). Callers may remain anonymous.
