Mayor honors six strong women of Lynbrook

The Mayor William J. Hendrick Community Awards dinner was held on Feb. 7 at the Knights of Columbus on Hempstead Avenue. The event was sponsored by the New Vision Party.

This year, six women from the community were named for their outstanding contributions to the community: USA Citizen of the Year went to Dr. Melissa Burak, school superintendent; Linda Stephenson was named USA Businessperson of the Year; and four women received the USA Distinguished Service Award: Flo Brooks, Carol Burak, Eleanor deNeufville and Margaret Smith. “These people are being honored for their contributions to our village, and their genuine committed partnership, which is a rare gift we all celebrate and cherish,” said Mayor Bill Hendrick.
