Merokean Dina Lohan, 50, mother of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, was arrested and charged with DWI after she was caught driving a white BMW 77 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone and a breath test revealed her blood alcohol content was .20 –– twice the legal limit, according to New York State Police.

Lohan was arrested in a westbound lane of the Northern State Parkway at around 11 p.m. on Sept. 12, state troopers said. Dina Lohan was taken to State Police headquarters in Farmingdale, where she claimed that an officer had injured her during her arrest. State Police officials called for an ambulance, and an evaluation showed that she had not suffered any injuries. Lohan later recanted her claim, according to state troopers.

Lohan was issued traffic tickets for the DWI offense and speeding. She was later released to a sober third party and is scheduled to appear in Nassau County’s First District Court on Sept. 24.

The arrest came only days after Lohan announced that she was publishing a tell-all book about her life.

In a statement to “Entertainment Tonight” referencing Lindsay Lohan’s breakout role in “The Parent Trap,” Lohan’s attorney, Mark Heller, said last Friday, “Dina Lohan is a good person. Her life has been dedicated to her four children. She has worked hard her entire life and she has been a 'parent trapped,' with the entire world watching her in a fishbowl with murky water due to no fault of her own.”
