Merrick Kids Fest a blast for thousands

Posted

Thousands of children and their parents crowded into the Merrick train station parking lot last Friday to Sunday for the Merrick Chamber of Commerce’s annual Kids Fest, which serves as a scholarship fundraiser.

Kids Fest proceeds fund scholarships at each of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District’s three high schools –– Calhoun, Kennedy and Mepham.

At this year’s fair, there were rides and games galore –– along with plenty of carnival food and family fun. Chamber President Randy Shotland said there were also magic shows, photo opportunities for children with princess and prince characters, musicians performing at the Town of Hempstead’s Showmobile, and informational visits by the Army and Coast Guard.
