The Merrick Kiwanis Club will host a special movie morning for families impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

The family-friendly film will be “Escape from Planet Earth” and will be shown at Merrick Cinemas on Monday, Feb. 18. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. show time.

In addition to the movie, attendees will receive a free soda and popcorn. The idea behind the event is to give families a little break after all that they have been through after Sandy, according to organizers.

Advanced reservations are required. Email your name, town and number of people attending to kiwaniskim@gmail.com. The program is provided by Merrick Kiwanis with a grant received from the Kiwanis International Foundation.
