Katie Dora Silkes, 6, came all the way from Memphis to attend the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Festival in Franklin Square and visit her grandparents, Sandi and George Silkes of West Hempstead. She won two Smurf toys at the event.

The 74th annual “Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Festival” was held July 14 to 17, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, located at 934 Stewart Place in Franklin Square. Attendees enjoyed food, games and gambling.
