The 11U North Bellmore-North Merrick Lady Rebels won the 12U East Meadow Summer Sizzle in convincing fashion, by going 8-0, outscoring their opponents by a 93 to 14 margin. The Lady Rebels beat Bethpage 18-2 in the semi-finals after a long rain delay, which did not damper their spirits. Julia Horacek led the way by pitching a dominant complete game while adding several big hits to help her own cause. The Lady Rebel's offensive explosion put the game out of reach early, due to key hits by Jasmine Bright, Kim Burns, Victoria Walker, Caitlin Snoddy, Kayleigh Roth and Alexis LoFrese. The pitching domination continued in the championship game, where Kayleigh Roth pitched a 1 hit complete game gem, beating Wantagh 4-0. Tremendous defensive play by Jasmine Bright at shortstop and Victoria Walker at catcher, along with Ailish Callahan's perfectly placed bunts helped secure the hard fought victory. Key contributors missing from the finals were Ariana Sambade and Katie Mylett. This win completed a busy summer of softball for the girls, which saw them place 4th in the 11U NY State Williamsport Tournament held in Rochester, NY and the clinching of a playoff birth in the City of Glen Cove 12U Mayor's Trophy Tournament.
