The East Rockaway School District has announced the appointment of Jacqueline Scrio as assistant superintendent for finance and operations.

Scrio, a Great River resident, comes to the district from the Lindenhurst Union Free School District, where she served as assistant superintendent for business and non-instructional personnel since 2008. In that role, she provided the district with financial oversight and prepared annual budgets, in addition to a wide range of other business related tasks and all aspects of non-instructional personnel.

“I’m excited to work in East Rockaway’s small, close-knit community where I can be instrumental in the district moving forward,” Scrio said.

Scrio’s experience at Lindenhurst also includes serving as assistant business administrator and deputy school district treasurer from 2004-2006. She was responsible for supervising accounts receivable and accounts payable departments and monitoring capital project expenditures. She also held the position of accounting supervisor and deputy school district treasurer for the Half Hollow Hills Central School District from 2006-2008, and deputy school district treasurer and senior programmer analyst for the South Huntington Union Free School District from 1993-2004.

Scrio is certified as a school business administrator, holds a Master of Business Administration in public administration, a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and Associate of Applied Science in business administration.

“Ms. Scrio brings to East Rockaway many years of experience and a high level of expertise in the area of school finance and operations,” Superintendent of Schools Lisa Ruiz said.  “Her proven track record of success makes her a great fit for our district. I am pleased to have her join our administrative team and look forward to working together to support our district’s Five Year Strategic Plan.”
