Mary Malloy/Herald
Residents shoveled as much as they could at the height of the morning snowstorm to get their vehicles out.

After the the area was hit with yet another snowstorm on Thursday, and then again very early Friday morning, meteorologists are predicting 1 to 3 more inches of powdery snow to fall on Saturday afternoon.

Many Long Island schools closed on Friday, with a smattering of late openings.

Sunday is expected to be cold and sunny, and by Tuesday, temps will be in the mid 40s.
