Oceanside High School was ranked No. 70 of the top 100 public high schools in New York State by Niche.com, a school and neighborhood ranking website.

Niche ranks schools based on a number of factors, including state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT and ACT scores and teacher quality.

Sandie Schoell, vice president of the Oceanside Board of Education was pleased to hear about the recognition. “I’m very happy we’re there,” she said. “We challenge our students to achieve at the highest levels.”

Schoell noted that regardless of the metrics used, getting ranked No. 70 out of 1,200 high schools in the state was quite an accomplishment. “I’m very proud of the work we’ve done, and I’m proud of the teachers and I’m proud of our community for supporting our schools and our programs,” she said. “We couldn’t do it without taxpayer support.”
