A Rockville Centre man was killed crossing Merrick Road at 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 24.

According to Nassau County Detectives, Juan Galdos, 84, of Rockville Centre, was crossing Merrick Road from north to south in a crossing lane at the intersection of Oceanside Road when he was struck by a 59-year-old man driving a tractor trailer traveling east in the right lane.

Galdos was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, but there is no apparent criminality at this time.
