Injured Woodmere woman airlifted to hospital

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle as she walked on the sidewalk and through the entrance of a parking lot for a strip of store at 1319 Broadway in Hewlett at 12:48 p.m. on Sept. 19, police said.

The woman, 69, of Woodmere was struck by a 1996 Dodge pickup truck driven by a West Hempstead man, 46. The woman was pinned under the truck.

After being removed from beneath the vehicle she was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow and treated for multiple compound fractures, according to police.

The vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks. There is no apparent criminality at this time.
