A Deer Park man was arrested on Sept. 24 after police say he stole an envelope full of checks from a woman waiting on line at Chase Bank, on 2469 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow.

Nassau County police report that a 28-year-old woman, who was waiting to deposit six checks at around 11 a.m., was approached by Thomas Sidoti, 30, who came up behind her and snatched the envelope.

After fleeing the bank, he was seen heading westbound on the turnpike, and was stopped by a responding K-9 officer. He was placed under arrest without incident, and the envelope full of checks was recovered.

Sidoti is charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, and was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 25.
