In a post on Facebook, Police Commissioner Mike Tangney said the incident occurred on Nov. 4 at 3:48 p.m. at the intersection of National Boulevard and West Fulton Street, near the Channel Park Homes.

Officers responded to the scene after the department received a report that shots were fired in the area, and Tangney said that evidence at the scene indicated three shots were fired at a vehicle.

“An individual received a superficial wound and was driven to South Nassau Communities Hospital in the vehicle he was in at the time of the incident,” Tangney said. “The investigation is ongoing.”
