Police report arrests in Malverne robbery

The Malverne and Nassau County Police departments reported the arrests of two men in the robbery of a Chinese food deliveryman in Malverne last week.

Devon Williams, 20, of Jamaica, Queens and Ramone Bartley, 24, of St. Albans, Queens were arrested for robbery, attempted robbery, menacing, criminal possession of stolen property, and criminal possession of marijuana.

The two men had hit the deliveryman on the head with a wooden object as he was making a delivery from China Dragon in Elmont to a Webster St. home in Malverne. The men stole the victim’s wallet and fled south on Cornwell Ave.

The Malverne police caught up with the suspects this past Wednesday, when an officer, while on patrol, observed a suspicious vehicle parked on Coolidge St. where a food delivery was again about to take place. It was ultimately determined by police that the order was deceptively made in order to commit the robbery.

The two men were arrested without incident and will be arraigned Jan. 29 in First District Court.
