The Rockville Centre Lions Club is pleased to announce its second annual fundraiser, “Dinner in the Dark,” to be held on Saturday, May 4, from 8 p.m. to midnight, at the Rockville Links Club in Rockville Centre.

With a donation of $125 per person, guests will participate in a cocktail and appetizer hour, and three-course meal and dancing, with music provided by the band “Hi Def,” sponsored by Entertainment Unlimited.

This year the Rockville Centre Lions are pleased to announce three special “Dinner in the Dark” honorees: Ted Fass, Robert D. Klein and Donald J. Steinert. Each have served the Rockville Centre community in valuable ways. The honorees have worked together to increase awareness of sight impairment in Rockville Centre, through the partnership of the RVC Little League and the Long Island Bombers, a blind and visually impaired beep baseball team. They also enthusiastically support RVC Little League’s Challenger Division, which is dedicated to developmentally and physically challenged youth. The Rockville Centre Lions Club is proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds of the Second Annual Dinner in the Dark will benefit the Long Island Bombers and the RVC Little League Challenger Division.

Ted Fass, a distinguished Lion, is involved in many charities, including sight-impairment education and outreach, and was the host of the 67th Annual U.S. Blind Golfer’s Association National Championship Tournament. Bob Klein has served on numerous Boards and Committees overseeing budgetary issues, and is past President of the Rockville Centre Little League, where he introduced many changes to increase playing time and sportsmanship among our youth. Don Steinert is a member of many civic and charitable organizations, including the VFW, American Legion and the Marine Corps League. He was the Chairman of the Board and Vice President of the Rockville Centre Little League, and currently is assistant to the Commissioner of the Nassau County Board of Elections.

This year’s Dinner in the Dark Co-Chairs, Joan MacNaughton and Jeanne Mulry, hope you will join them in honoring these three distinguished honorees, and supporting Long Island Bombers Blind Baseball, and the RVC Little League’s Challenger Division, and other Rockville Centre Lions Club charities. Contact the co-chairs, or any member of the RVC Lions Dinner in the Dark Committee — Ed Asip, Linda Banilower, Kathi Collins, Barbara Ann Dillon, Karen Holmgaard, Maureen Jordan, Michael Jordan, William Kurrus, Patricia McNally, Dr. Michael Russo, Naginder Singh and Lisa Spatz — if you have any questions about Dinner in the Dark.

All are invited. Please call 516-857-1366 or visit www.rvclions.com for more information, or to make a reservation. Journal and Sponsorship opportunities are also available, and donations are being accepted for the Basket Raffle.
