On Stage

Romeo & Juliet
The tale of the star-crossed lovers is told in a vibrant new production that captures the youthful passion, beauty and ultimate tragedy of Shakespeare’s timeless love story — in a uniquely 21st century style. This acclaimed production, staged by the Canadian Classical Theatre Project (CTP), brings the famous play to life with a live score and the emotional journey expected from the Bard. With a doomed romance, pulse-pounding sword fights, and the tragic fate of two families, it is a story that touches the hearts of everyone, designed specifically for a modern audience. Wandering players transform their unadorned Elizabethan surroundings into a playing space with a chalk circle and the audience’s imagination. The energy, talent and dedication of this youthful cast bring the feeling of a rock concert to each performance.
Friday, Jan. 17, 8 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 18, 2 and 8 p.m. $35-$45 ($15 students). Madison Theatre, Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave., Rockville Centre. (516) 323-4444 or www.madisontheatreny.org.
