Long Beach firefighters responded to an accident on Saturday after a sport utility vehicle rear-ended a parked FedEx truck and flipped over.

According the Fire Department’s Facebook page, the incident occurred at 11:19 a.m. in front of 410 E. Broadway when the SUV hit the truck, flipped and struck three parked vehicles.

The driver of the SUV managed to get out of the vehicle before firefighters arrived, and refused medical attention. The driver of the FedEx truck, however, was standing in the rear of the vehicle when it was hit, according to the LBFD, and sustained head, neck and back pain. He was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

This was the second reported incident in which a vehicle overturned in the city. On Oct. 11, Long Beach firefighters responded to an overturned vehicle at the intersection of Monroe Boulevard and East Walnut Street after the driver struck a parked car, flipped over and landed on the sidewalk.
