‘Santa Run’ kicks off Christmas season in Bellmore

With Thanksgiving come and gone last Thursday, the Christmas season officially began in Bellmore. After all, Santa Claus himself could be seen traveling through the community the day after the holiday.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores sponsored its annual “Santa Run” on Nov. 29. The Bellmore Fire Department escorted Santa from one end of Bellmore to the other, allowing children to meet him and pose for photographs.

Santa made his way through the Bellmores aboard one of the department’s trucks. The run began at 9 a.m. in the CVS Shopping Center in North Bellmore, followed by the Stop & Shop Shopping Center on Newbridge Road, also in North Bellmore, and then the Ace Hardware Shopping Center on Merrick Road in Bellmore. The final stop was at 10:30 a.m. at the Bellmore Firehouse on Pettit Avenue, with the film screening beginning half an hour later at the Bellmore Movies next door.

On the theater’s stage, families took holiday photos with Santa. Indeed, a good time was had by all.
