Blessing of the Animals

Seaford church blesses all of God's creatures

Dogs, cats, guinea pigs and more were among animals Seaford pet owners brought to St. William the Abbot’s blessing of the animals last Sunday afternoon.

Children, adults and their companions came out for the blessing by Deacon John Lynch. The blessing of the pets, which is traditionally held in early October, marks the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment, who lived in the late 12th and early 13th centuries.
