The board will hold its next business meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the West Hempstead High School video conference room.
Malverne Village Board
The board will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall on Church Street.
MOM meeting
The Mothers of Malverne will hold its next meeting on Thursday, Feb. 5 at Malverne Village Hall. The group meets monthly from September to June to provide a social and support network for mothers of young children as well as events for kids.
LIBC meeting
The Long Island Breakfast Club will hold its next meeting on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Sterling Glen Atria Tanglewood in Lynbrook at 9 a.m. For more information, e-mail vjanek@optonline.net.
Aglow meeting

Annual luncheon
The NAACP’s Long Island Coalition of Branches will be hosting its ninth annual Awards Luncheon on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Suffolk Community College’s Health, Sports and Education Center at 11:30 a.m. The event will give officials the opportunity to recognize civil rights pioneers and those who have had a significant role in the NAACP. Lakeview resident Rener Reed has been selected as this year’s honoree from the NAACP Lakeview Branch.

Ambulance Corps
The Corps will host a Valentines Day fundraiser on Thursday, Feb. 12 from 3 to 9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 14 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Roses and carnations will be sold. Roses are $25 a dozen and up and carnations are $15 a dozen. The pick-up station will be Malverne train station on Hempstead Avenue. Classic Movie Night
The Malverne Historical and Preservation Society will host a Classic Movie Night on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. The movie “Dinner at Eight” starring Marie Dressler and John Barrymore will be shown.

Valentine’s Day Craft time
A Bear Hug Valentine’s Day Craft for children ages 2 1/2 to 5 who are not yet in kindergarten will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5 from 2 to 2:45 p.m. A Grade K-6 Valentine’s Day Craft will be held on Monday, Feb. 9 from 4 to 4:45 p.m.
Matinee Movie
An afternoon movie will be shown every Monday at 2 p.m. “Made of Honor” will be shown on Feb. 9 and “The Women” will be shown on Feb. 23.
Census Bureau Pre-testing
Come and explore the possibilities of working for the U.S. Census Bureau on Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A pre-employment test will be offered to individuals interested in temporary census work with the federal government.
Craft for the kids
A K-2nd Grade Story and Craft will be held on Wednesdays, Feb. 11 and 25 from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Come to the library to listen to some great books and participate in a craft activity.
Storytime for the dogs
A Tail Waggin’ Tutors: Reading to Dogs program will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. Children in kindergarten through fourth grade have the opportunity to read to trained therapy dogs.
Book club
A Tuesday Night Book Club will be held on Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. This group will meet every third Tuesday of each month. Please come join the library for a book discussion.
Disney movie
The movie “High School Musical 3” will be shown on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

Craft time
A Snowman Napkin Holder program will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5 from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Children ages 4 and 5 and those in kindergarten can come to the library and make a napkin holder for the kitchen table.
Family time
An Infants and Parents program will be held on Friday, Feb. 6 from 10 to 11 a.m. Join the library’s specialist who will guide you and your baby, ages 1 to 12 months in bonding, massage and play.
Dance class
A Belly Dancing class will be held on Monday, Feb. 9 at 7 from 8:30 p.m. Come to the library to learn how to belly dance. The cost is $25.
Tax help for senior citizens
An AARP Tax Help class will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will assist low-income senior citizens in preparing simple tax returns. To schedule an appointment, please call the library’s Reference Desk.
Computer class
A Computer 3rd Grade program will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. In this hands-on workshop, you will continue to learn functions in the Windows environment. The cost is $10.
Playtime
A Parenting and Playtime program will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is an informal workshop for a parent or caregiver and a child who is 1 to 3.
Be strong
A Simply Stronger program will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 7 to 8 p.m. A certified personal trainer leads this low impact exercise class. The cost is $16.
Bilingual Storytime
A Bilingual Storytime for kids ages 3 to 6 will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Parents and their children can the library for stories, songs and crafts in Spanish and English.
Time for kids
A Time for Kids program will be held on Friday, Feb. 13 from 10 to 11 .m. and 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Children ages 18 months to 5 can come to the library to enjoy an hour of dancing, singing, stories and a craft.
Music concert
A concert will be held on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. The Golden Tone Orchestra, a 21-piece band including vocalists, will be here with a musical program of songs from the '30s, '40s and '50s.

Walk in craft time
Teens in seventh to 12 grade can walk in the library any day between Tuesday, Feb. 7 to Thursday, Feb. 20 from noon to 4 p.m. to participate in a craft. Advanced registration is required.
Be my valentine
Teens in seventh to 12 grade can visit the library to create a Valentine’s Day craft on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Aerobics class
A Seated Aerobics class will be held on Thursdays, Feb. 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 2 to 3 p.m. This is a complete body workout. Please wear comfortable clothes.
Music concert
Vocalist Laura Mann will perform jazz selections on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. Mann has worked with artists such as Richard Harper, Valerie Capers and Billy Gault.
Teen Yoga
A Teen Yoga class will be held on Monday, Feb. 9 and 23 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Come to the library to give your mind, body and spirit a workout.
Book discussion
A Teen Talk Book Discussion will be held on Monday, Feb. 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. Teens can come with their favorite book and discover new books and ideas in between socializing with others.
A relationship class
A How to be a More Loving Partner class will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 7 to 8 p.m. Anyone who secretly aspires to be a more joyful, compassionate partner, sibling, parent, friend or colleague is welcome to attend this class.
Poetry Casting Call
A Poetry Cast Call will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. Audience participation is requested of all those poets who are just aching to share their written word. Audience and participants must register by Friday, Feb. 13.
