Silver alert: 89-year-old woman last seen in East Meadow

Police search for missing person described as 'homeless' and 'paranoid'


The Nassau County Police Department issued a Silver Alert on Tuesday night for a missing woman last seen in East Meadow.

The woman, Amelia Giuliotti, was described as an 89-year-old non-hispanic Caucasian with gray hair and brown eyes. Police said she is four feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 90 pounds. She speaks English with an Italian accent.

Police said she was last seen at the Coliseum Motor Inn on 1650 Hempstead Turnpike when she checked out on Dec. 18 at about noon. The missing person is homeless and paranoid, police said. There was no photo available on Tuesday.

The Silver Alert Program has been established in order to disseminate immediate information to local media, hospitals and other organizations when a senior citizen or other individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or other cognitive disorders goes missing.
