Six years in prison for Lynbrook man

Thomas King, 21, of Lynbrook, has been sentenced to six years in prison for slashing a bouncer’s head, face and neck during an early-morning altercation at an East Meadow bar in February 2010, according to Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice.

King was convicted of second-degree assault and fifth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

“Thomas King’s propensity for violence made [this] sentence inevitable, and the streets of Nassau County are safer with him locked in a prison cell,” Rice said. “The victim in this case was only following the law. This defendant will have the next six years to think about why he didn’t do the same.”

At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Feb. 26, 2010, King got into a verbal altercation with security personnel at R.C. Dugan’s in East Meadow after he was denied entry because he was underage. After being followed out into the parking lot by security, King attacked one of the bouncers, slashing him three times with a sharp object. The victim suffered severe lacerations to the top of his head, right side of his face, and left side of his neck, causing permanent scarring. Nassau County police arrested King on March 9.
