Caracciolo, a business relationship manager, grew up in East Rockaway. He and his wife of 10 years, Kristina, live on Williamson Street in Bay Park, and have two young daughters, Rikki and Felicity.

His ability and desire to reach out and network with his neighbors propelled him to co-found the11518 Inc. in the spring of 2013. The organization still serves as a resource for residents looking for storm-related information. Caracciolo moderated the first meeting, leading discussions on policy, Small Business Administration loans, hazard-mitigation measures and, most important, how to get the word out to people who were most in need of the information. Regular meetings of the11518 continue to be a means of support and a conduit of information for residents who are still recovering from Sandy.

Caracciolo has arranged a house-lifting seminar for those who are seeking to raise their homes, whether voluntarily or by law. “We felt there was a need for this type of advice and assistance,” he said, “and we’re opening it up to the public.” The seminar is scheduled for July 30, at 7 p.m., at East Rockaway High School. Zucaro House Lifters will host the event.

“We’re still implementing information that was given to us by bigger groups before they left the area — Project Hope, for example,” said Caracciolo. “We’re helping to do rip-outs and sheetrocking. We’re here as long as we’re needed.”
