Teen bicyclist killed crossing Eagle Avenue

A 13-year-old girl was hit by a car and killed while she was riding her bike across Eagle Avenue in West Hempstead Wednesday, cops said.

According to detectives, at 3:03 p.m., the girl was traveling southbound on Park Avenue and then attempted to cross Eagle Avenue. She was struck by a 2002 Cadillac that was going westbound on Eagle Avenue. The Cadillac was driven by a 24-year-old female.

The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced dead at 3:57 p.m. by hospital staff. The victim’s name is being held at the request of the family.

The vehicle was impounded from the scene for brake and safety checks, and there is no suspected criminality, cops said.
