Tenanus shots on Dec. 13

Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein has made free tetanus vaccine available to any individual involved with cleanup from Hurricane Sandy. With the potential for individuals to suffer cuts or deep wounds during cleanup, the Department of Health advises on guarding against tetanus bacterial infection.
Adults involved in cleanup projects are advised to ensure they have been immunized for tetanus within the last 10 years and to receive a tetanus booster if they have not. If an individual is unsure about the date of their last tetanus shot, they should receive Tdap (tetanus diphtheria toxoid and acellular pertusis).
East Rockaway residents will have an opportunity to on Thurs., Dec. 13 at the Church of the Nazarene – Little Pebbles Building, 133 Ocean Ave., East Rockaway (corner of Ocean Ave. and Garfield Place) from
6:30 to 9:30 p.m. (Set-up @ 5:30 PM)

For more information on the tetanus vaccination clinics, call the Nassau County Department of Health at (516) 227-9496.
