The county executive responds: Jobs have been my focus

In the past year, Hain Celestial, a global health food producer, chose to open its new international headquarters in Lake Success, creating 15 new construction jobs and 300 new permanent jobs, and generating $605 million in economic activity.

Construction projects in Great Neck Plaza and Long Beach, one a new rental apartment building and the other a renovation of low-income housing units, will create approximately 200 permanent jobs and provide an economic boost of $115 million to Nassau County. A renovation project at the former Pall Corporation building in East Hills will accommodate multiple office tenants, including major health care and financial institutions, while creating 154 new permanent jobs, 200 new construction jobs, retaining 517 jobs and generating more than $568 million in economic activity.

These successes of new construction, in combination with the jobs that have been retained in Nassau County, are evidence of the dedication of my administration and its policies. It is the cumulative impact of smart government. While we continue to focus on expanding new opportunities for industry, growing small business and offering attractive incentives that encourage interest in locating in Nassau, we remain focused on the broader objective: the creation of a new sports arena in the center of Nassau County, coupled with the development of Belmont Park in Elmont and the former Navy-Grumman property in Bethpage. I recognize that these projects will be the catalyst the county needs to further stimulate our local economy and create thousands more good-paying jobs.

Nassau County is a step closer to igniting development at the Hub in Uniondale due to my administration’s recent efforts to attract a master developer. The master developer will pursue mixed-use opportunities to assist the county and the New York Islanders in finding the right combination of funding options and innovative plans to get this project off the ground and create jobs for our residents.
