How did you get involved with the Community Fest?
I was invited to participate by David Sabatino. By writing and creating the www.ValleyStreamMom.com blog, it seemed like a natural fit being that the blog has become a much needed resource here in Valley Stream and surrounding communities.
What do your responsibilities entail?
I am responsible for coordinating all of the activities and performances in the children’s area.
What is your hope for the festival?
My hope is that the community festival fulfills its mission, which is to highlight the community culture of Valley Stream through a display of different cuisines, music, businesses, organizations and more. Valley Stream is rich with diversity and I would love to see that displayed on Rockaway Avenue.
Is there something you’re looking forward to most on the day of the festival?
I am looking forward to seeing the children and their families enjoy themselves. I’m looking forward to highlighting the various youth groups and organizations that make Valley Stream a family friendly community.
Why should people attend the festival?
I have met with longtime residents who have never eaten at a restaurant on Rockaway Avenue. I don’t know why, but I think it will be amazing to bring residents away from the comforts of their own neighborhood. It will definitely give a boost the business community of Valley Stream.
