Two cars crashed on Salisbury Park Drive just east of Carman Avenue early Friday afternoon.

Glass and car parts littered the street where the accident was blocked off by police tape.

A two-door Corvette came to a stop half way up the sidewalk. The driver's door was in the street about ten yards away, the hood was detached, the windshield was shattered and the airbags had deployed.

A dark grey Cadillac, which sustained less damage, was also involved in the accident and stopped after hitting a plant in front of a nearby house.

A neighbor was taking out her garbage when the accident took place. The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said she heard a "bang" and walked over to the red car where she found the unconscious driver. She immediately called police.

"She was unconscious probably three or four minutes," said the woman. The neighbor added that an elderly man was driving the Cadillac and suggested that more laws should be in place to prevent potentially unsafe drivers.

Nassau County police arrived on the scene, followed by the Nassau County Crime Scene Unit.

According to authorities, the two drivers were the only people involved in the accident and were both transported to Nassau University Medical Center. Everyone was expected to be "O.K."

An additional source indicated that the woman was admitted to the intensive care unit and the man was still being evaluated.

More details will be provided as information becomes available.
