Valley Stream schools delayed Wednesday

The opening of Valley Stream schools will be delayed on Wednesday because of another winter storm that is hitting the region.

Snow began falling after midnight, and has changed over to rain. A wintry mix is expected to continue throughout the day.

The Central High School District, as well as elementary Districts 24 and 30 will be on a two-hour delay. District 13 will be on a 90-minute delay.

District 24 schools open at 10 a.m. Students are expected to be in school in District 30 by 10:15 a.m. Start times in District 13 are 9:30 a.m. for Willow Road, 9:55 a.m. for James A. Dever, and 10:20 a.m. for Wheeler Avenue and Howell Road.

Maybe the delay will allow the village the extra time to sand and salt the roads so our children can get to school safely. Mayor Fare, usually VS does a great job, this storm you dropped the ball!!!
