Wedding vow renewals at the Bristal canceled

Town of Hempstead officials announced Thursday that a favorite East Meadow event had been canceled due to the latest winter storm. 

Wedding vow renewals scheduled for Friday at the Bristal Assisted Living in East Meadow have been canceled. Officials have yet to announce whether the Valentine’s Day event will be rescheduled. 

Officials announced the cancellation hours after declaring yet another snow emergency. Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray said that at least six inches of snow blanketed communities across the area Thursday morning, with rain beginning to fall town-wide around noon. But the precipitation was predicted to shift back to snow in several hours, she added, and town officials do not expect the storm to end until 4 or 5 a.m. on Friday.
