Welcoming May, harbinger of happier days
One of my favorites is May 7, National Teachers’ Day. I was a teacher myself, and I love and respect the teachers I’ve known. This year I’ll celebrate the career of my sister, Meryl Greenbaum, who retires next month after more than two decades of teaching third grade at the Ogden School in North Woodmere. Meryl is the teacher we want for our children: She draws from a deep well of empathy and patience and brings grace, good humor and exceptional talent to her profession.
She has worked very hard for many years, and I have a hunch that, come May 14, she may be celebrating Dance like a Chicken Day.
