In recent weeks signs have appeared on the doors of the defunct Long Beach Road Waldbaums announcing that a Bow Ties Cinemas movie theater may be moving in. But despite the small flyers scotch taped to doors of the building, there are few other indicators that the theater chain is expanding to Oceanside.
Responding to a Herald inquiry, Town of Hempstead Deputy Supervisor Anthony D’Esposito said that no permit applications had been submitted to the town for modifications to the Waldbaums, which has lay empty since its closing in 2015.
“Nothing has come across my desk,” he said. “There are no potential plans for development.” He added that no applications had yet been filed with the town zoning board either.
The signs, which have been posted on the outside of the closed supermarket’s doors read simply “Bow Tie Cinemas Coming Soon.” A spokesperson for the theater company could not be reached for confirmation or comment.
