Alden Terrace dads bring kids to school

More than 40 fathers, uncles and grandfathers lined the entrance of the Alden Terrace School to applaud the school’s scholars as they entered the building on Sept. 17.

Principal Shawnée Warfield invited the male role models in recognition of “Dads Take Your Child to School Day,” a district-wide initiative that highlights the importance of males in a child’s education.

“This is better than Sunday Night Football because it celebrates the importance of education,” she said when she saw all the volunteers.

Warfield and Assistant Principal Wellinthon Garcia also expressed their gratitude to everyone in attendance, and presented each of them with a certificate of appreciation.

“Our scholars will never forget this day,” Warfield said. “They may not know your names, but they will always remember how they felt as you celebrated them for getting an education. And as we say at Alden Terrace, ‘Knowledge is Power.’”
