Baldwin election and budget vote results announced

The results have come in for the Board of Education and school budget vote.

Baldwin voters have adopted the budget , adding an additional $1.5 million for the upcoming 2017-18 school year, to help introduce and expand new or returning programs and learning spaces district-wide. Voters also supported establishing a capital reserve by an vast majority.

And in the race for Board of Education trustee, Karyn Reid has been reelected to a three-year term from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2020.

“I’d like to thank the Baldwin community for supporting the 2017-2018 budget," said Baldwin School District Superintendent, Dr. Shari Camhi.

"Our district is rapidly becoming known for not only providing sound basic instruction, but also for our progressive and innovative practices. This budget will allow us to continue this movement as well as infuse a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) teacher at the elementary level, an Educational Technology Specialist at the secondary level, increase the number of AP and college level courses at the high school and expand the AVID program at the middle school.

"All of these efforts are geared toward the expectation that Baldwin is a district of excellence and that our students have access to an outstanding educational program. We are a proud Baldwin community and our children deserve the best.”
