Baldwin intersection the site of another car crash

The car crash that took place at Grand Avenue and Grace Street on July 31 wasn’t the first to take place at the intersection, according to neighbors, but it was the worst. Residents of Grace Street said they often see drivers going east-west on Grace blow the stop signs and collide with motorists going north-south on Grand.

That happened again last Tuesday when a Jeep was hit on its passenger side at around 6 p.m. and landed on its side in the front lawn of a house on the corner, destroying several hedges in the process. A stop sign was also displaced from the corner. Cops at the scene could not elaborate on the details of the crash.

There were no serious injuries, cops said.

Several residents said they heard a loud noise and saw the car on the lawn when they came outside, but did not see the actual crash. The homeowner whose hedges and lawn had been destroyed did not answer several knocks on her door.

A temporary stop sign was placed where the old one had been knocked out. A tow truck removed the car from the lawn, but not before displacing more hedges.
