‘Building opportunities’ in Malverne

For the second year in a row, Davison Avenue Intermediate School and Howard T. Herber Middle School, both in the Malverne Union Free School District, have been identified as meeting the criteria of the Beating the Odds: Building Opportunities study by Better Outcomes, LLC. Based on demographic data and the NYS ELA assessment results from spring 2017, these two schools are in the top 21 percent of those eligible for beating the odds and building opportunities for all of its students.

As a result of this distinction, both of the schools will be further interviewed in order to identify strategies and mindsets that have contributed to their success. The reports will be shared with New York State BOCES for distribution to member districts, as well as at an upcoming conference.

The leadership and staff at Davison and Herber received a certificate from the Malverne Board of Education and Better Outcomes, LLC for the designation, as well.
