Car fire closed part of Lawson

Fire and police officials reported on March 7 a car fire that occurred near the corner of Lawson and Daly boulevards at round 11 a.m., temporarily closing a part of the road. There were no injuries, the officials said.

Oceanside Fire Chief Kevin Klein said the fire appeared to be caused by a mechanical issue, and was not being treated as suspicious.

County police issued an advisory at around noon that the northbound side of Lawson was closed due to an investigation related to the fire. A police spokesman said the car was a Chevrolet Suburban with an attached snowplow.

The fire, he added, caused minor damage to a neighboring building before it was extinguished.

Police reported around 1:45 p.m. that the road had been reopened.
