The East Meadow Chamber of Commerce welcomed Great Clips to the community with a ribbon cutting on Sept. 7.

Hany Mostafa, 41, of Hicksville, opened a branch of the haircutting franchise on Front Street in mid-April, citing Stew Leonard’s as prompting him to bring his business to the area.

Since he began pursuing finance as a student growing up in Cairo, Egypt, Mostafa said that he has always dreamt of becoming a chief financial officer and managing his own business. “I’ve always loved numbers,” he said. “I’ve always loved math.”

Now, Mostafa has 20 years in finance under his belt and manages the finances of another company that runs throughout North and South Carolina. He said that he was drawn to Great Clips because of its commitment to delivery and customer service. “I was looking for a business model that was steady and recession proof,” he added, “And Great Clips has that because you’re always going to need a haircut.”

Mostafa said that the hardest part of opening a business is finding a location, he added, however, that East Meadow proves to have a promising business landscape.
