Come donate in Bellmore-Merrick to help Harvey victims

There will be a community drive to help victims of Hurricane Harvey on Saturday morning, Sept. 2 at Bagel Boss, 2101 Merrick Road, in Merrick.

The following items are needed: cleaning supplies, disposable gloves, face masks, garbage bags, personal hygiene products, first aid supplies, baby products, over the counter medications, flashlights and batteries and school supplies. No clothing, please.

Checks will also be accepted, made out to the American Red Cross, with “Texas Relief” in the memo. Anyone donating a check for $50 or more gets a free bagel.

“While some of us are going to concerts, vacationing, going to dinner and enjoying life, many families in Texas are not,” said organizer Ron Steiger. “They need our help … they need it now.”

The event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
