County to host public meeting addressing opioid concerns in East Meadow

The Nassau County Police Department has been tackling the opioid epidemic by penetrating the most-affected communities, and East Meadow is second on its list, with the second-highest overdose rates next to Massapequa.

County Executive Laura Curran and Commissioner Patrick Ryder will be addressing the weight of the scourge in East Meadow at a town hall meeting at the East Meadow Fire Department’s location at 197 East Meadow Avenue on March 20 at 7 p.m. All are invited to voice their concerns and questions.

County officials introduced their targeted approach to the crisis on March 1 in Massapequa and March 14 in East Meadow. When the next “hot zone” is identified, the county will be there, Ryder said, adding, “We’re going after this neighborhood by neighborhood, street by street.”
