East Rockaway has high-energy homecoming

Posted

East Rockaway was filled with energy last weekend as a sea of orange and black school spirit set the stage for the high school’s Homecoming festivities.
The celebrations began on Oct. 19 with the annual Homecoming parade and a pep rally at East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School. During the event, senior athletes were honored and the Homecoming royals were crowned. Nick Becker and Sabrina Haltigan were anointed the Homecoming king and queen, and Chris Perri and Kat Melissinos were crowned prince and princess. Frank Alatmore and Patricia Refino were also named the faculty king and queen.
On Saturday, varsity football players and varsity cheerleaders were honored at a ceremony before the Rocks took on the W.T. Clarke Rams in East Rockaway’s Homecoming game. Then at halftime, the high school band and cheerleading teams entertained the audience. The Rocks ultimately lost the game, 34-30, but put up a valiant effort.
