One of the five men who allegedly tried to rob a man in April in Inwood was arrested by police on May 26 in Far Rockaway.

According to robbery squad detectives, on April 28 a man, 37, was walking on Jeanette Avenue in Inwood and approached by five men. One of the men had a knife and demanded all of the man’s property. Another man, 40, not part of the five-man group, walked over and with his phone in his hand, attempted to video the incident.

A man, identified as Tamel D. Brooks, 19, of Lawrence Avenue, Inwood, said to one of the other four men he was with to shoot the man using the phone. The man trying to record what was happening walked away and called police. The five men then left the scene on foot, police said. No injuries were reported and no property was taken.

After an investigation, Brooks was arrested on Redfern Avenue in Far Rockaway. He is charged with attempted robbery first-degree, attempted robbery second-degree and menacing third-degree.
